I've been thinking about Vegetarian for a month now and I'm confused here. I've never really liked Eggs or Cheese. But I do have Yogurt sometimes.
Can someone live a Vegetarian lifestyle? What are benefits?
Can I still enjoy some of my favorite foods or snacks and still be Vegetarian?
I've heard many great things about Soy products such as "Boca" or "MorningStar Farms", are these products good to have around? What do you make with them?Thinking about going Vegetarian....I can't bear eating meat any more!?
Yes, someone can live a vegetarian lifestyle. Millions do.
Vegetarians and Vegans consume more fat than meat eaters, usually eat healthier all around (because they are forced to watch what they eat), and have a longer life expectancy.
I personally hate soy products, but I have friends who LOVE them, I would recommend just trying some to see if you like. If you like those products, they'll be great to have around.
I was a vegan and then recently started eating meat. Most of the times I follow vegan diet. I love soya milk. I make coffee with it, chocolate shake and chai tea as well. I make tofu stew with vegetables and firm tofu. I like morning star buffalo wings. nice and spicy. Morning star burgers are good as well. I get Boca patties and then stir fry them with teriyaki sauce and vegetables. I make orange tofu following orange chicken recipe. Also in the supermarket they have tofu dogs which are not exactly like hotdogs but the texture is the same. Another option is morningstar crumbles make vegeterian chili with it. Or can add crumbles in spagetti sauce. Options are endless.Thinking about going Vegetarian....I can't bear eating meat any more!?
sure, it is possible. you asked this in a vegan and vegetarian section where most of us have been vegan or vegetarian for several months or years now. :)
I don't eat soy products (I've just recently bought one tiny carton of soy milk which I found quite tasty and that's as far as I can go lol..) but they're enjoyed by many. I don't eat the meats because I think I would freak myself out eating something that tastes similar to flesh.
with those soy products you will just normally do what you did with animal meat, put them in sandwiches, salads, soups, in stir fries....
you can still enjoy your favorite foods but make sure they don't contain gelatin, which is the substance that comes from boiling animal hides....I remember reading the ingredient list on a yogurt smoothie bottle and it contained gelatin, pretty gross.
I've lived a vegetarian lifestyle for ten years, so yes... it can be done... millions of people around the world will attest to this :) It's actually quite easy.
You can still eat many types of chips and snacks of that sort. Not all Frito-Lay chips are vegetarian, though: most of them use cheese, some of them use rennet (which is an enzyme used in some cheeses that's derived from the stomach enzymes of calves - sounds delicious, hmm?), and some - for instance, the Salsa Verde flavor, and the cheeseburger flavor - actually use real chicken or beef stock. You can still eat Totino's party pizzas as long as they're cheese... basically all sweets are fine... a lot of the snack food out there won't be affected, but you should still keep it to a minimum since most snack foods aren't very healthy.
Boca and Morningstar Farms products are excellent, especially when you're first starting out. When I have friends who ask me about vegetarianism and how to try it out, I usually take them to a store and help them pick out some different products they can try for a month or so to see if it'll work for them.
Morningstar Farms' "buffalo wings" dipped in hommus is one of the BEST snacks ever, meat or none... everyone loves it. Also, if you live in an area that has a large Asian population, most Asian supermarkets have a section of meat substitutes that are less expensive than American versions to cater to Buddhists. Worth checking out.
Good luck, if you need any advice, send me a message.

I like cheese too.. not so much eggs. Lacto-ovo vegetarian gives you the option to eat them. Yogurt does have gelatin in it though... I gave it up when I saw it 3x in a row.
of course. http://www.benefitsofvegetarianism.com/
if your favorite snacks are vegetarian, yes. but if they contain meat, you could do some research on vegetarian substitutes. for example if you enjoy hamburgers you could get a veggie burger. if there are literally no substitutes then just find something else to eat.
good products if youre having meat cravings, you dont need them but theyre not bad to have around. they have all kinds of food -- http://www.morningstarfarms.com/ http://www.bocaburger.com/
