LOL - will converting a Hummer to Hybrid bring you up to a whopping 16 mpg?

I just saw the yahoo blurb about the guy who makes "Hybrid Hummers" and thought gee whiz...

Isn't that brilliant?

If the Hummer only gets 8 miles to the gallon, what the heck good is hybridizing it?

How about just buying a car that uses less gas and road space already?LOL - will converting a Hummer to Hybrid bring you up to a whopping 16 mpg?Actually, the guy in question can hybridize a Hummer H3 and get 60 mpg out of it. He's got a general modification (using a diesel engine and biodiesel fuel) that will double the mileage of a car, then additional modifications that can quadruple the mileage.

"Conservatively," Goodwin muses, scratching his chin, "it'll get 60 miles to the gallon. With 2,000 foot-pounds of torque. You'll be able to smoke the tires. And it's going to be superefficient."

Of course, the conversion costs a ton of money, but the things he's doing are pretty cool. See the story below.

I certainly agree that people should be driving smaller cars in the first place though. Very few people have a decent justification for owning an SUV.LOL - will converting a Hummer to Hybrid bring you up to a whopping 16 mpg?
By hybridizing the Hummer it means that you're spending what the local bio-diesel manufacturer is selling it for ($2.00/gal vs. today's Gas/Diesel prices). Now the question is, where does someone find enough local bio-diesel to fill the Bummer up on a continuous basis?

I suggest adding Autoviagra to the gasoline/diesel and that would increase the overall mileage by 14%, and decrease the emmissions by 75%. I don't know of any stock where one gets an immediate savings of 14% back into your wallet.LOL - will converting a Hummer to Hybrid bring you up to a whopping 16 mpg?Seriously. Hummers suck, and hybrids suck even worse, they're horrible polluters during production.

Diesels burning plant oil is where it's at.
What if you want to drive a Hummer and use less gas?

It IS brilliant.

What's the problem?LOL - will converting a Hummer to Hybrid bring you up to a whopping 16 mpg?Well some people just like cars like that I suppose. It is a cool looking car but I would never drive one in real life. I would honestly not want less than 30mpg so I can save money.LOL - will converting a Hummer to Hybrid bring you up to a whopping 16 mpg?
%26lt;Grin%26gt; yeah but how much trans fat is in the Biodiesel?
Actual if you drive an H2 at 60mph you will get about 15-16 mpg. Its not great but its not the end of the world. Every Yukon Denali and Caddy Escalade gets the same mileage as the H2 yet they get picked on way less.

In reality most people who drive an SUV really don't need one!!!LOL - will converting a Hummer to Hybrid bring you up to a whopping 16 mpg?
If it works out well, we could mandate all trucks and SUV's be hybrids.
