What remote is needed for an older Samsung TV?

I have an older Samsung TV that was given to me for free, but it had no remote so I went and bought a universal one, but it didn't work! Is there a certain remote that needs to be used for an older Samsung TV (about 10 years old)? Or are there certain buttons that are needed for that remote?What remote is needed for an older Samsung TV?
Actually, if you purchase ANY SAMSUNG remote, it will work reliably on ANY SAMSUNG TV set....

If you have a local Samsung service center I would try them first. If that failed to produce results I would research my question in the Samsung website. You should be able to research your question with just your TV model number. If an original part is not available they can probably offer a substitute. If you don't find a ready answer you can either email or call them for information. But, again, don't forget to include the model number and any other information you think might be important. Their US web address is http://www.samsung.com/us/. Once there click on Support and then Accessories. If you strike out there then click on Contact Us and either send your email or call them at (800) Samsung. I'll wish you luck but you won't need it.
