I have the same thing happen with mine and I believe it is the T-mobile backup system. It syncs your contact list to the T-mobile website so if anything happens to your phone or sim you can get everything back easily

What does the blue arrows icon mean on the Samsung Gravity?
I recently bought a Samsung Gravity and the only issue i'm having is that occasionally an icon that is two blue arrows one going up and the other going down (they are curved also) appears at the top of the screen and when the icon is present some features of the phone such as my contact list cannot be used.
