I have been dieting for the past two months and its worked really well so far.
I have just been substituting chips with like rice cakes or veggie chips, and I have been substituting sweets with fruits and instead of eating fatty stuff like chicken patties and corndogs and stuff ive just been eating whole wheat deli wraps and sandwhiches.
I wanna start eating less fatty stuff though, but since I can NEVER give up meat (or at least the taste) I was wondering if it would be healthy for me to eat the tofu chicken patties, or the tofu burgers and stuff like that instead.
Would I still lose weight, or am I still packing on the same pounds, just with tofu instead of meat?Will I lose any weight if i start eating meat substitutes like tofu burgers (like morningstar farms stuff)?
Rice cakes and tofu "meat" products are going to get old really fast if you're used to eating corndogs and chicken patties. If I were you I'd stop with the chicken patties and just go with plain ole chicken breast, no breading but you can season the hell out of it. Instead of regular hamburgers try leaner beef or switch it out for turkey or ground chicken. Actually, you can eat whatever you want. As long as you have a healthy lifestyle(exercise, sleep, hygiene, etc.). As you may know, diets don't work most of the time however, it ultimately depends on the person. Ive been trying to find ways to cut on the fat as well and i have tried the whole tofu thing and i for one dont like it. if u like tofu it is a better alternative but if ur like me (not to mention alot of other people) who dont like tofu try just cutting down on the portions of the meat you eat. more less you can have your chicken and lean meats, stay away from red meat (beef burgers hot dogs etc). so what im saying is if you like tofu its better if you want to keep your weight down, it has high quality proteins which could help you curve your appetite but dont cut meat out completly
When it comes to losing weight, it all boils down to the total number of calories consumed, not how fatty something is (different health issues there). You'd have to do a side by side calorie analysis of identically sized patties of meat and tofu (read the packages?). If the tofu has less calories, then yes, you will lose weight by eating tofu patties.
