I've been eating a lot of these lately to replace junk food, but i'm wondering if they really have good nutritional value. I've read the ingredients and I can't tell you what half of them are, and some I can't even pronounce! (If you can show me where you got your information from, that would also be appreciated, thanks!)Are Morningstar Farms veggie burgers good for you?
Anything that is processed in any way is not good for your to eat on a regular basis. Only organic fresh fruits and vegetables can be guaranteed to be free of all the processed chemicals, preservatives, flavanoids, sodium and additives. So try to avoid processed and packaged food as much as possible. Read the book "A fruitarian warrior's handbook" by Jericho sunfire (free online) for more information. Good luck!
They are a highly processed fake food product. You would be better off eating unprocessed vegetables, fruits, legumes and grains. If you are looking for a veggie hamburger patty replacement, there are some great recipes out there for bean and grain based patties that don't contain all of the chemical junk that those frozen patties do. Portabello mushrooms, grilled, also make a great burger replacement. Cook it yourself, and you'll know exactly what's in it!Are Morningstar Farms veggie burgers good for you?
No. Soy, grown in the USA at least, is usually Genetically Modified. Plus, soy burgers are processed, with chemicals, and salt. And I read something about soy products that has convinced me to stop drinking soy milk.
The closer a food is to it's natural state, the better it is for you.
I can't remember my source right of hand, but I subscribe to a magazine called "Nutrition Action" that has a lot of information.
All fake meat products should be consumed in moderation. They are highly processed, and are, thus, not really great for you. They are too easily digested and absorbed into the body too readily. As is common with processed foods, they also contain lots of synthetics - all those ingredients you don't understand - and these can take their toll on the body.
That said, they are good eaten every now and then. Once a week, maybe. They are a good source of protein, and are a nice treat to indulge in.Are Morningstar Farms veggie burgers good for you?
I doubt if one fake burger now and then is going to kill you, but they are highly processed. And, as you noticed, filled with all kinds of unpronounceable chemicals and ingredients.
IMO, those fake soy products, milk, burgers, hot dogs, tofu, are pretty much junk food. Take some time and plan your diet. That's the only way you'll stay healthy as a veg*n.
Not really. They have good protein, but anytime a food product is composed mostly of things you can't understand or pronounce, it means it's really processed and not the best thing you could be having. They won't hurt you every now and then, but you don't want to subsist off of fake meat. Bad idea.
They're not exactly good for you but they're not horrible. Your better off saving them for once an awhile instead of making them a daily food. I usually only eat veggie burgers when my family is having burgers on the grill.
They are fine in moderation but they ARE very processed. I reserve them for the grill in the summer. They are high in protein as well.
If you like them, then yes they are! :)
