Has anyone ever tried these? Are they any good?

Morningstar Farms庐 Veggie Sausage Links

http://www.seeveggiesdifferently.com/pro鈥?/a>

How about their other products?

I'm not a vegetarian, but I am trying to cut back on some of my meat intake. I figured this would be the best place to ask. Basically, I'm looking for something to substitute meat without tasting terrible or bland.Has anyone ever tried these? Are they any good?
I have tried them, but I didn't care for the way they cooked up - too dry. They are tasty though. I do eat morningstar farms veggie dogs and veggie corn dogs - very yummy. For sausage, I prefer the Gimme Lean (it's in the produce section at my store), comes in a package just like Jimmi Dean and has a really good flavor (we only add a little sage). I also use Morningstar farms veggie sausage crumbles, when I can get them. There is also a product out there called Soyrizo (also in the produce section), which is a chorizo like substitute that is really good in mexican cooking.
Yeah, they're really good. As are the patties. Most sausage is easy to imitate since the taste is pretty much just spices.Has anyone ever tried these? Are they any good?
Omg! delish!
they taste really good!!!

just like the actual thing.

i advise all of the morningstar products ans boca products, they are both vege friendly. also if you have a publix in your area, i suggest you try greenwise (publix soy brand). It is completely VEGAN and it tastes great lol.Has anyone ever tried these? Are they any good?
They're actually really quite good.

If you nuke them in maple syrup, they get even better.

As you begin to treat yourself and your body by switching over to things like this, your taste buds will change.

In time, you won't WANT to eat the "old way."
Yea there OK, but don't put them in the microwave because it makes them STINK, for real I'm not joking if you buy that brand the just pan fry them or in the oven, I think that it might be a chemical in them or something, but there good.
So far everything that I've tried from Morningstar and Boca is really good. Also look for Yves and Lightlife. Great stuff. Yves Tofu dogs are great! I think that it's great that you're cutting down on meat. The animals would thank you for it if they could talk. It's so much healthier to go without.
Never the Sausage links, but ANYTHING by Morningstar is EXCELLENT.

Edit: I do beleive that if you give veganism or vegetarianism a chance you will never want to eat meat again. Its unhealthy, its DISGUSTING, and worst of all is the suffering that the pig went through so that someone could have some ground up flesh next to their Chicken Embryo smothered in aged breast milk from a cow... YUMMY *puke*
Yes, they're really good. The sausage patties are even better! And try their burgers- Grillers Prime. Fry 'em up in a skillet until they're almost burned- and YUM!
i don't eat these (they aren't vegan), but i eat some that are very similar. i pan fry them in a little syrup and then roll them up in a pillsbury cresent roll. bake for 10 minutes and they are delicious.
I haven't tried those, but I like Morningstar Farms' chik'n strips stir-fried with veggies.

Other good faux meats to try are:

Nate's Meatless Meatballs

Tofurkey Deli Slices

Boca Chik'n Patties

Gardenburger Flame Grilled Chik鈥檔

This site also has a list of popular faux meat products:

Good luck!

I know processed food is not good for your health, but how about frozen vegetarian and vegan food? food?

Example Morningstar Farms庐 Hickory BBQ RibletsI know processed food is not good for your health, but how about frozen vegetarian and vegan food? food?
No, those things are still highly processed and pretty much junk food. I mean, they're okay for something quick every now %26amp; then (for example, my sister keeps things like that in her freezer for times when I stop by %26amp; happen to wind up staying for a meal. She keeps some kind of "meat" thing and then a couple full frozen meal things.), but you shouldn't base your diet around them or anything. Home cooked food is always best. :) If you like bbq, you can make bbq tofu or seitan. It's really easy.
I would stay away from the fake meat products except occasionally; I'd say no more than once a week. They are processed, though they can be good sources of protein if eaten in moderation. If you want quick meals, I'd say frozen rice, veggies, edamame, etcetera, pita sandwiches are the best.I know processed food is not good for your health, but how about frozen vegetarian and vegan food? food?
morningstar farms etc is just junk food in fact sometimes those vegetarian entrees are BAD. one brand has 1250 mg sodium per serving, and 1 serving is actually 3 servings for real people.

frozen vegetables are terrific if they don't have heavy sauces on them. they are usually frozen at their peek (like the commercials say. heh heh)
Check out the sodium load on those bad boys. One riblet has 1/4 of your daily allowance

They are loaded with fats, chemicals have an extremely high caloric load. (one riblet is 220 calories, ehm empty calories is there is nothing of nutritional value in them)

They are not good for you.I know processed food is not good for your health, but how about frozen vegetarian and vegan food? food?
Such processed vegetarian/vegan food is not good for your health. Of course they contain the chemicals and other garbage from being artificially manufactured, but if vegans ate only healthy natural food (like organic fruits and vegetables) then they would be malnourished.

That's why I firmly believe the best option is to eat a balanced diet that includes meat.

What to make for child-friendly, vegetarian, New Year's Eve? ?

Any ideas for something not too complicated to make for two families for a New Year's Eve dinner/ evening?

I live in Europe so any ideas for something that seems typically American (if there's such a thing) would be great.

Also, since we live abroad, please avoid very specific products that we can't get here (e.g. Morningstar Farms or something).

Thanks! What to make for child-friendly, vegetarian, New Year's Eve? ?
Grilled portobella burgers %26amp; potato salad

Mini veggie pizzas

Batter fried veggies (mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, artichoke hearts, asparagus, cauliflower....) with ranch dressing

Nachos with sour cream %26amp; guacamole

Are these meat imitatiors over processed?

i usually like anything from morningstar farms (burgers, nuggets and bacon) boca (burgers and smart deli(lunch meat). My mother told me I should lay off because they're over proccessed and essentially counterproductive for getting protien. But she also harps on me to go back to eating meat, so I don't know if she's lying!

Which are the least proccessed and best for me?Are these meat imitatiors over processed?
They make those for people who are stuck in the meat-eating rut, so even if they stop eating meat itself, they have to have something that looks and tastes kind of like meat on their plate.

Cook real food. Eat real food. Accept no substitutes. 鈭犅?Are these meat imitatiors over processed?
Best are unprocessed natural proteins like beans tofu. seitan, quinoa .

Yes those are over processed and loaded with saltAre these meat imitatiors over processed?
idk bro

What goes good with mashed taters?

im hungry, and i wanna make mashed taters and gravy, but idk what to have with that. im a vegetarian and i eat morningstar farms products but all i have is the chikn, i cant think of ANYTHING!!

any ideas? What goes good with mashed taters?
mashed potatoes taste pretty good with corn and peas smooshed in. (Don't mash the corn or peas, just mix it into the potato.) this is especially good if you put garlic in the mashed potatoes. You can have that, and a chik'n sandwich. If you have lentils, or a can of lentil soup, you could make a gravy, or put the lentil soup in the blender, and use that as gravy.
how about a vegetarian burger? What goes good with mashed taters?
...the chicken?...
Corn, peas, cabbage, spinach. What goes good with mashed taters?
if you have tofu or can make tofu....

you can season that and fry it with teryiaki sauce...

it's really good!
Ketch up, sourcream, melted cheese, and almost any kind of meat
Mashed carrots, peas and green beens. BBQ chicken!
fried tofu or sesame tofu....the bomb, baby!

  • Any vegetarian restaurants in either northeastern Pa or Philadelphia, that make the meat substitutes fresh?

The only places I've gone to so far serve either Boca or Morningstar Farms patties, but of course they are frozen.Any vegetarian restaurants in either northeastern Pa or Philadelphia, that make the meat substitutes fresh?
I found this site for you. Not only does it list the restaurants but rates them as well. Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Have you checked out South Street? I've heard there's 1 down there,but I don't remember the name,sorry.

In your opinion what is the best tasting veggie burger? (brands and flavors please)?

I like morningstar farms but want some variety. I tried Amy's and ended up feeding those to my dogs. What are some good ones?In your opinion what is the best tasting veggie burger? (brands and flavors please)?
My favorite are Gardenburger Flame Grilled. Like the name, it tastes like it was cooked on a grill with a smoky flavor.

I think these make the best tasting "garbage" burger with lettuce, tomato, onion and balsamic mayonnaise.

Their Black Bean Chipotle burger is tasty and has some kick when I want something spicy. I enjoy this with some of those zesty fries.
Morningstar farms is not Vegan, it's made with milk and eggs. I just think it's kinda s***ty of them you know? But gardenburgers are vegan and delicious!! Boca burgers are okay but they take some getting used too. Gimme Lean is like fake sausage and you have to cook it yourself but it's REALLY REALLY good. Gardenburger also makes veggie BBQ Riblets and they're DELICIOUS! absolutely amazing! In your opinion what is the best tasting veggie burger? (brands and flavors please)?
I like Boca Burgers, for me Morning Star Burgers are to dry. With veggie burgers you have to be careful not to over cook them.

BTW: The best veggie burgers are home made ones. I buy TVP (textured vegetable protein) and make my own.
I like Boca Burger original vegan flavor. In your opinion what is the best tasting veggie burger? (brands and flavors please)?
    GardenBurger; vegetable medley
Boca Burgers will probably end up in your dogs belly too. Go with Garden Burgers, they have a MUCH better taste
    try bruscetta's they're delicious.
    I like boca bugers.
    i like boca's vegan burgers
    boca is the best!

Does anyone know where to get good coupons for veg products?

    MorningStar Farm "meatless" patties?

I ate one today as my dad bought 5 packets of 16 patties each at Coscto, but they ended up with mushrooms {which I don't like} and other vegetables that I prefer to be in a pasta sauce not on a burger.. I personally love Boca, but there was no Boca at Coscto. Does anyone know where I can find Boca burgers at a cheap price. Thank You!MorningStar Farm "meatless" patties?
If you live in an area that has limited grocery stores, try finding your delicious goodies online! You can usually get a good bulk deal on foods from places like Amazon. Their subscribe and save option can save even more.

Speaking with your grocer and requesting a product is always a good idea too. See if he will give you a discount on a case or bulk purchase.MorningStar Farm "meatless" patties?
I think morningstar is delicious.I prefer those rather than boca. You can get them from BJ's.MorningStar Farm "meatless" patties?
um stater bros, winco foods, i think target has them too. food4less..sam's club.
    yuck

for super cheep you can soak 2 pieces of corrugated cardboard in water then when they are saturated glue the two pieces together then throw in some salt, sugar, added fat, and chemical additives.

Now that I've made the decision to be a vegetarian (not vegan), what do I do?

I went to the store and bought all sorts of fruits and vegetables and yogurt...and even some stuff made by MorningStar Farms.

Is there a good recipe book with simple vegetarian recipes that you can recommend?

Also, is there a book that anyone can recommend about becoming a vegetarian when I've been an omnivore for nearly 26 years? Now that I've made the decision to be a vegetarian (not vegan), what do I do?
You don't need to "do" anything. Just "don't" eat meat, fish, our poultry. Continue to eat the things you enjoy that don't contain meat. Make sure you include protein grains, such as quinoa in your diet, as well as beans, pulses, and legumes. Simply substitute them for meats, such as in bean and cheese tacos. No rocket science needed. Good luck and congrats! Read food labels to identify hidden meat products, such a beef tallow in fast food fries.
I've been a vegetarian for 13 years (since I was in 6th grade). One thing to mention is that even though many products don't have "meat" in it, there are many soups (i.e. raman) and food that contain animal products (i.e. chicken stock, beef flavoring, etc). Just be careful of that.

Other than that I just fill my diet with lots of veggies, fruits, and some carbs. Make sure you also eat a multivitamin too.

Congrats on making a healthy choice! :)Now that I've made the decision to be a vegetarian (not vegan), what do I do?
that is good to be vetarian but you have to eat so many vegetables to full your deit
You need to buy some chick peas, peanuts, mushrooms, egg plant to use for your meat substitute...

    Making felafel's is great!

You should go to Barnes and nobles, borders to get a recipe book you can even go online to www.foodtv.com and www.realsimple.com for some free recipes...Now that I've made the decision to be a vegetarian (not vegan), what do I do?
PETA has a workbook for people becoming a vegetarian. It is free.
Well. You don't eat meat. And you eat a lot of vegetables... and other than that you eat everything that you ate before, but no meat :)
    what do you think?

im sure the answers will soon be obvious to you

    good luck though
    1. Talk to your doctor. I'm not saying vegetarianism is unhealthy at all, so don't jump on me. I'm just saying you should talk to your doctor any time you make a huge change in your diet. I would tell you to talk to your Doc if you were saying you wanted to start a low-carb diet. It's simply a good idea.

S/He will probably tell you to start taking vitamins, if you don't already. (And not all multi-vitamins are created equall.)

    2. Browse your public library. Many cookbooks are usually best as Try Before Buy deals anyway.

But I really recomend the first book listed in the sources. If you only get one, get it. You can always find recipes online, but this book has a ton of nutrition information and ways to help with the transition. It talks about vegetarianism and veganism both, and while you can tell it is more in favor of veganism it never gets preachy. It's a great reference, and you'll use it a long time.

    3. Hit your local health food store. They should have info for you, and might be able to direct you to some vegetarian cooking classes, even.

You'll find yourself eating a lot of foods you had never even heard of before! Have fun with it!
Read, "Fit For Life" by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond. It has reasons to stay away from meat, how to combine your food properly, and even recipes. (an awesome smoothie one to die for)!
    stop eating meat.
Try the site goveg.org =) There is a ton of recipes, tips and advice on your new journey. Good Luck!!!!
here are lots of ideas good luck ,just keep your protiens up
obviously, no meat. pasta is good. if you want, you can eat seafood (im trying to stop). get stoneyfield yogurt, IT HAS NO GELATIN in it. you need protein still, so eat nuts (peanut butter is good). iron comes from stuff like spinach (dark stuff). it's actually not that hard to become a veggie-head.

Have any of you tried the new (ish) Burger King vegi burger?

Burger King now offers a vegi burger, and it's actually made by Morningstar Farms which is a well known brand of vegitarian alternatives to meat products.

I was just wondering if anyone in the environmental section, or anywhere else, has tried it yet and what their impressions were.

I had one last night.Have any of you tried the new (ish) Burger King vegi burger?
I love it. It is so nice to actually have a healthy choice on fast food. I love Morningstar Farm products though. Have you ever tried the crumbles in spaghetti sauce...so good.
i thought it was rather disgusting.Have any of you tried the new (ish) Burger King vegi burger?
I appreciate the effort and I suppose I will eat it if I'm REALLY hungry near a BK. However, the bun is really quite bad for you. I'd love to see a whole wheat non-preserved option for starters, but one can only wish.

I usually eat my Morning Star and Boca burgers on 7 sprouted grain bread at home, since the bread is phenomenally good for you and tastier than most.
I used to work at BK... And I love that thing! I'm not too fond of it being cooked in the microwave, but it's easy to get over.

Mmmm...Have any of you tried the new (ish) Burger King vegi burger?
I have tried it and like it (it is like most veggie burgers). I wish the bun was multi-grain though.
    No!
There's veggie burgers up at Burger King!!! man i am soo trying it. thanx fo the info! =)
I tried them when they were first introduced, and was disappointed.I was hoping they were a little different than the ones I normally buy at home, but they were the same.Just a plain veggie burger. They would do better using the flame grilled Boca Burger's.They have more flavor and would keep in line with Burger Kings "Flame Broiled" burgers. All in all its still a nice attempt and a nice alternative for people who are trying to eat a little healthier.
How is beef related to the environment?
yeah, it was ok, but i've had better vegi burgers.

Quorn makes great products - chik patties, nuggets and 'turkey roast' (see recipe below)

Amy's Soy Mac-n-cheese, add Soy Knox or Smart Dogs.

Amy's Indian food or Trader Joe's Indian Food (Dal) with rice.

Slice tomatoes in rounds, top with mozzarella cheese basil, cut up figs (peeled, washed in hot water to bring out the sweetness) sprinkle with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Leave out to room temp until cheese is 'melted' looking.

Stir-fry veggies and rice with Tofu - I use extra firm, wrap in paper towels to soak up the excess water. Cut in slices, fry in a little olive oil, hot pepper sesame oil and soy sauce. Sprinkle with ginger, garlic, curry, whatever you have in the cupboard. Top with sesame seeds. You can also top it with sliced cheese and serve on toasted sourdough with mustard.

Gardenburger Riblets, baked potato, broccoli (w/ lemon, margarine and garlic) and a salad.

Pasta w/ marinara sauce, if you have Boca Itailan Sausages (vegetarian) cut them up and add it to the sauce. Serve with garlic bread - spread butter on bread, sprinkle with garlic powder and brown in a pan, butter side down.

Clean portobello mushrooms, cut up, saute in olive oil, garlic and a little soy sauce. Serve with salad.

Boca Sausages or even MorningStar Farms Sausages (not the breakfast ones) are good on homemade pizza - add mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, onions.

Easy Corn Chowder Soup 鈥?1 can each of White Corn, Yellow Corn and Creamed Corn, including the water from the can. Cut up celery add to the pot, add a little rice dream milk.

To vegetarian refried beans add mild green sauce. Add cheese if desired. Make Spanish Rice 鈥?Far East and/or Rice-a-Roni makes it in a box, just add tomatoes. Serve in a burrito, taco or tostada 鈥?add lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and avacado to the top.

戮 cup Vegetarian Chicken Soup Base

    6 organic celery stalks, chopped

    1 陆 cups sweet onion

This may be a stupid question?

i've been a vegetarian for a while now, and i eat mostly morningstar farms food.

my dad says there is some kind of meat in all of their products but i just think hes lieing.

is all there foods actually meat free? This may be a stupid question?
If it says on the package that it's vegetarian, then you're fine.
Your dad is messing with you. All there foods are meat free. This may be a stupid question?
There is no meat in it, to be extent of my knowledge, but most of their products contain egg whites.
Your dad is teasing you! I'm positive there is NO meat in their products! This may be a stupid question?
Keep eating if you like it. Go by the lable.
there is no meat or somebody would have sued them for false advertising by now.
He is either misinformed or lying
i like thier stuff to even though i do eat meat they have no meat in their products
Hes just saying that since hes probably just trying to tease you. My uncle says the exact same thing about veggie burgers and the such and about things that say they are organic (he doesn't believe they are) and I know that there is no point in arguing with him since i'll never win (i've tried in the past),so now I just say " Yeah your right." it has made him surprised since he was exspecting me to say "No Theres NOT!" haha, Anyhow I'd just ignore the comments.
    Your dad's a moron.
Yes they are, but many contain egg.
Vegetables in my opinion are meatfree, however some of them rich in proteins (so they're healthy and if you don't eat meat you should eat a lot of soya and bean)

    Are morningstar farm products good?

I'm sure some of them *taste* good, but they aren't particularly good for you health-wise. They're all processed garbage. (Also, very few, if any of them are vegan.) I wouldn't recommend indulging in them more than say once a month or so. Try learning to make your own faux meats at home from seitan or tofu, etc. It's much healthier, and you'll be able to pronounce every ingredient in them. :)Are morningstar farm products good?
Yes, we eat morningstar patties all the time. We like grillers (though they don't really taste like hamburger), the original veggie burger, the chick burger and the mushroom lovers burger. I cook them in the microwave for one and a half minutes and then put them on a hamburger bun with ketchup and they are pretty good!
Some are. I like the Original Grillers and the Sausage Patties. Most people like the corn dogs, but I think the batter part is a little too sweet. For bacon, Morningstar Farms has the best if you like it crispy, but SmartBacon is better if you like it chewy. Morningstar's Buffalo Wings are nice and spicy and their Chik Patties are great for making a fake Chicken Cordon Bleu. Experiment and see which are your favorites! Are morningstar farm products good?
    some.

i have tried the pizza burgers(idk the name of them), corn dogs, and the chicken stripes, and veggie hot dogs.

the pizza burgers and corn dogs are the only good ones.

the other stuff i tried wasn't

i though that their hot dogs were the same as in corn dogs, but they tasted totally gross

    :D
They taste delicious and are a great thing to have once or twice a week, but be careful eating them a lot of feeding them to your kids, because all soy products can be dangerous for your health. Are morningstar farm products good?
Yeah when I eat frozen garbage I eat the um black bean burgers original grillers, spicy buffalo stuff, chikn strips for cooking, sausage, bacon and stuff but yes theyre tasty. Ground boca is better than the morningstar crumbles though.
Yes, they are quite tasty- however they are processed.

It is not wise to eat solely fake meat products. But every once in awhile, they are a treat! I especially love the black bean and tomato-basil burgers.

The ingredients list says that they have lactic acid. Is that vegan? Are Morningstar Farm chick'n nuggets vegan?
I looked up the ingredients on their site. They contain non-fat dry milk as one of the lesser ingredients. So no, they are not technically vegan. It's up to you to decide if that small amount of dried milk breaks the rules of your diet.

They are not vegan, most of the Morningstar Farms products will say that they are vegan if they are. The points below are all good, but don't forget that most sugar is not vegan. I even asked Morningstar Farms about their sugar and they said to eat their products that contain the evaporated cane juice. They have a wonderful chicken patty, Grillers Chick'n that is vegan. Also, as already mentioned the chicken strips are vegan.
    Chicken nuggets are not vegan.

    they contain CHICKEN!!

and lactic acid is not vegan either, it is formed by muscles in mammals when the can not get enough oxygen. lactic acid is produced by anaerobic respiration. Are Morningstar Farm chick'n nuggets vegan?

    Goldenchilde11,

Way to go on displaying your ignorance. Do you even know what wheat gluten is? It's protein. Gluten is the protein portion of wheat. There are virtually no carbs in it because the carbohydrate is removed during the process of seperating gluten from endosperm starch. Please don't make me explain what endosperm is. Jesus.

Only gluten intolerant or wheat-allergic people need to restrict or eliminate their gluten intake.

I live in the Grain Belt and our farmers get protein premiums on wheat. High protein is high gluten, and gluten is what gives dough and bread its structure.I made some of Bryanna Grogan's seitan turkey and it is very good..is there a way to bread the slices and?
Ive tried that before and ended up with a bad case of Explosive DiarrheaI made some of Bryanna Grogan's seitan turkey and it is very good..is there a way to bread the slices and?
Oooh weee. Carb overload. No thnx. I'll have a nice lean cut of roast beef on Jewish rye, thank you very much. Seitan is just wheat gluten to the 3rd power. That can't be healthy, I don't care who you are. You all go through so much travail trying to make meat "substitutes" that are generally 1,000x more unhealthier than meat itself. But vegetarianism is supposed to be so gosh darn healthy. I smell conspiracy/irony/buffalo chips...

    Best soy substitutes in fajitas?

I'm looking for strips of flavored tofu to go in my veggie fajitas. I've tried the Morningstar Farms strips and didn't care for them, does anyone else have favorites?Best soy substitutes in fajitas?
    Vegetarian Frajitas

An all vegetarian version of an otherwise well known meat dish. The name "fajitas" refers to the type of meat used in the traditional version. In this recipe the meat is replaced with onions, sweet peppers, corn and beans

    .I N G R E D I E N T S

    2 teaspoons vegetable oil

    1 cup quartered, sliced onion

1 cup red, green or yellow bell pepper strips

1 (15-ounce) can black, pinto or kidney beans, drained

1/2 cup frozen whole kernel corn

1 (1.25-ounce) package Taco Seasoning Mix

    1/3 cup water

    1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

    6 (6-inch) fajita-size flour tortillas, warmed

    I N S T R U C T I O N S

Heat vegetable oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and bell pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 4 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Stir in beans, corn, fajita seasoning mix and water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 4 minutes or until mixture thickens. Remove from heat; stir in cilantro.Spoon 1/2 cup fajita mixture onto each tortilla; fold in half.
I really like Veat brand. I'm not sure if they have fajita strips pre se but I know there stuff tastes great.Best soy substitutes in fajitas?
The morningstar ones I tried once and they made me sick to my stomach (had this awfully strange flavor and feeling associated with them.) You could try freezing some tofu in strips then dethawing and sponge em out then marinate them in some soy sauce/braggs, olive oil and maybe some onion powder and then bake/pan fry them slightly.
why not just skip the soy and use beans and rice with lime?Best soy substitutes in fajitas?
I love making veggie fajitas. I cook them pretty much like Mevlana does, but without the corn (I can't stand corn in other foods like in soups or rice or cornbread!). I also usually don't bother with the taco seasoing - I just add salsa and guacamole to stir fried peppers and onions. I did want to add, though, that if you really wanted something else in there maybe you could marinate strips of tofu in a mesquite lime marinade and grill them with the peppers and onions? It sounds really good to me! I'm going to give it a try. Also, I highly recommend Trader Joe's handmade corn tortillas if you don't make your own.
Forget fake meat substitutes! Marinate portobello mushrooms in olive oil, worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, black pepper, salt. garlic and a dash of A-1. Make some awesome homemade guacamole, pico and mince up some cilantro. You will not miss the meat at all. I have fed these fajitas to meat loving my in-laws and they never even asked if they were vegetarian or not. Actually my mom in-law asked for the mariande recipe.
I agree with you, the Morningstar strips are gross. Try the Quorn tenders (they are more like bite size) and very good.

  • Why are there so many veggie burgers sold out at the supermarkets?

I love the Gardenburger brand- Herb Crusted Cutlet, and my local supermarket gave a lame excuse for why they aren't going to get any more in. Also, Q'uorn products are great, but expensive, Morningstar Farms is ok, and Boca Burgers are a bit too filling. Gardenburger brand is the best, IN MY OPINION.

Help, what is a girl to do?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?Why are there so many veggie burgers sold out at the supermarkets?
I think mainly because more omni's are open to eating veggie burgers these days. They're not just for veg'ans anymore. :) People who are trying to cut back on their cholesterol consumption, or watching their weight, or just maybe want a healthier lighter meal will often buy or eat veggie burgers. Also, veg'anism is much more "normal" now. It's not only veggie burgers, but there are so many more options in every aspect for veg'ans than there were even ten years ago.

The ones you buy in the store are usually not particularly healthy. They're over-processed %26amp; not as natural as you'd think. You should try making your own. They're definitely healthier, and you'd know exactly what's in them. There are tons of different veggie burger recipes out there...for just about any kind of flavor or style you want. I usually don't use a recipe, but just throw a bunch of stuff together. You can make a lot at a time and freeze them. Tupperware has these great stackable bowls that are made specifically for freezing burgers, but you could also just wrap them in plastic wrap (so they don't stick and you can grab a single burger) and put them in large freezer bags. That way it's just as convenient as buying them pre-packaged. It's also a LOT cheaper to make your own. :)
ask if the have morning star farms Why are there so many veggie burgers sold out at the supermarkets?
Vegetarians diets are becoming more and more popular. Are you vegetarian? I am, only because I love my animals.

If you asked a meat eater to kill his own meat, would he do it? Probably not.
The number of vegetarians out there is rapidly increasing, thus the need to remain competitive with food items. I'm glad to see there are so many choices and varieties in a once VERY difficult veggie world. Used to be pretty slim pickings for these folks.

These healthy meals are not for vegans alone, as we become more and more health conscious - it is common for the meat eater to reach for these items as well. (Myself included). I personally, LOVE the original Gardenburger, and found the "Boca Burgers' rather bland and unappealing. Why are there so many veggie burgers sold out at the supermarkets?
Veggie burgers have to be eaten on occasion, because they can be high in fat and protein.

Eating vegan is great but most of our diet must be fresh fruit and veg.

I come from a family of vegans and a lot of study has been done in natural health.

Eat burgers but please not too many.

    With Luv :)
well the amount of people beeing vesgetrain is increasing .Thus more product alternitve to meat are sold on the market .Also due to increase of obesity more less fatty food are made .
probably because there isnt much of a demand so they are wasting money on them.... which is dumb.

i looovveee morningstar farms they are my ultimate favorite.
Okay, the truth? Kelloggs which also owns Morningstar bought Garden Burger which started out as a company in Portland, Oregon but the owner became greedy and moved it to Utah so he could pay employees less. Bad move as his once loyal fans moved on to more loyal brands and the company went bankrupt.

Sidenote: I knew a guy who lived next door to the founder; he said there was constant "Greedy Burger" graffiti around the house.

Then Kellogg had a manufacturing glitch after buying GB which has caused the loss of several weeks production and stores all over the country have had to go without which meant others had to find alternatives.

For burger alternatives I'd suggest Dr. Praeger's, Sunshine, Amy's and the Tofurkey brands as those are smaller companies and the quality is great. Most of those brands have other great products too. Try Field Roast too.

I'd stay away from Gardenburger, Boca (Kraft aka Phillip Morris the cigarette co -- also "Back to Nature") and Morningstar when possible as they often are not organic (and if they are they source from China and South America) and if not organic then use factory farmed and GMO ingredients and many of the products are not vegan using eggs and dairy from the most abused of the abused animals. The less the ingredients cost the more money in the Wall Street pockets.

Has anyone tried the Boca Bruschetta burgers?

What is Better bacon or sausage than?

Morningstar Farms their bacon and sausage can't figure out how to cook it right burns and sticks to pan. Taste horrible, can't even chew it right, like chewing in rub and afraid going to choke. I have made a lifestyle change from real bacon and sausage, but this is ridiculous morningstar is horrible. I would rather go back to real bacon and sausage or give it up completely. I am looking for some alternatives that have a better taste and I can actually chew and swallow. What is Better bacon or sausage than?
Real foods are so much better for us than the chemical compounds that are supposed to be for our good health. I never buy any of that stuff, as you say, it tastes horrid, burns in the pan no matter how careful one is, and is just plain nasty. I have had it at friends homes!

Actually that stuff is not as healthy as real bacon or sausage! It still has as much fat in it and a lot more sodium and sugar to try to make it taste better.

It is my belief that the revision to foods to try to make them healthier is not doing us any service. I believe that is what is causing the obesity epidemic and other health problems most of the nation suffers from.

I eat bacon or sausage and 2 fried eggs every morning. I love Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches. White toast, spinach leaves, crispy bacon and some lovely thick sliced tomato with Mayo!

When we cut too much natural saturated fats out of our diets is when we get the starvin marvins and start gaining weight willy nilly.
There are certain things for which they just do not make an acceptable substitute. For me, low fat cheese (my dogs won't even eat it!) and low fat mayonnaise are two examples. I would rather NOT have cheese or mayonnaise than try to enjoy a meal with these two ingredients.

Skim (non-fat) milk is another example, and I suspect that Morningstar would be the same. Remember that an occasional meal containing real bacon or full fat milk or cheese will not kill you, or even ruin your diet (if that's what it is). You just can't eat it every day. What is Better bacon or sausage than?
try a different brand or use turkey bacon or canadian lion bacon which has way less fat that regular yummy bacon. there are many things u can eat instead of trying to get yourself to like something that you don't.

What do morningstar burgers taste like?

My mom bought me some morningstar farms burgers and they look really good on the box :-) What do they REALLY taste like? sweet? sour? bitter? Like a loaf of bread? Just give me your honest opinion :-) Also, what other morningstar or tofu products do you reccomend? Any advice for a new vegetarian? What do morningstar burgers taste like?
They taste ok most people say they are great. They are softer than a burger and taste like a softer burger with a strongly grilled taste. They are better if you prepare them with ketchup, mustard, pickle and lettuce ect. I like Quorn products, Tempeh ( you will need recipes to prepare this but most are easy-be sure to steam it before adding it to a recipe) People say seitan is wonderful especially if you learn to make it at home. You can use it in place of most meats. Light Life also has some great products worth trying. I don't like Field roast. There are fake lunch meats which taste good sauteed but they don't agree with me. You may have better luck.
They are softer than Boca burgers and have pretty good flavor by themselves, but you might still want to add additional condiments of your choice when you make them.

My favorite Morningstar product is the black bean burgers. They are quite spicy by themselves, but I serve them with sweet pepper relish to give them just a little more kick.

I prefer Nasoya tofu to any other type. I'll either chop it up in an Asian salad (of spring mix, carrots, broccoli, slivered almonds, chow mein noodles, ginger sesame dressing, and sesame seeds) or I'll heat up a box of vegetables (usually the teriyaki or szechuan vegetables Green Giant puts out) and serve the warm vegetables over cold tofu.

For frozen dinners with tofu: if you have a Trader Joe's near you, their vegan pad thai with tofu is excellent. It's high in calories though, so be careful how often you buy it. I also like Ethnic Gourmet's pad thai with tofu as well (this has more traditional ingredients and is about 100 calories less, but will cost a bit more than TJ's brand).

Tofu can also be heated, to be added to stir fry or Asian curries. What do morningstar burgers taste like?
Out of all the mock burger patties out there, I prefer Morningstar Farms. With that said, I try to eat them sparingly as they are ridiculously processed and loaded with sodium. They also aren't vegan, but you said you're a vegetarian so it's okay. My other favorite Morningstar product? It's a toss-up between the Starters Veggie Crumbles and the Buffalo Wings. The Buffalo Wings are super spicy.

My best advice for a new vegetarian is to try not to rely on the processed meat and chicken substitutes. Instead, fill your plate with beans, legumes and fresh veggies. While a veggie burger is fine for when the rest of the family is grilling beef burgers, meat and chicken substitutes are processed foods and very high in sodium. It's better to use that empty space on your plate for healthy, natural foods.
I like Morningstar burgers, haha, and I'm not even a vegetarian. They don't taste bad. I think they taste better than real meat. ( I'm not a big fan of beef, but I like chicken ). My favorite is the spicy black bean burger. You should really try it!

But I've also had the Asian style kind, this random turk'y kind, and a chick'n kind. What do morningstar burgers taste like?
I personally think they have the consistency of bread stuffing. And then it would depend on what flavor you bought. It doesn't do a thing for my occasional hamburger craving.

And I do eat morningstar farms food sometimes. So any reciped would be appreciatted and just give me a sample day menuCan you help me improve my diet?
I suggest you educate yourself on the vegetarian diet and learn how to have a proper diet. This is a very good book to read and easy to find at public libraries:

    Good luck.
I think maybe you'd better start taking a multivitamin if you don't already. I don't really have any advice in particular except make sure that your cereal is whole grain. Can you help me improve my diet?
I was totally in your boat. It's really hard to eat healthy today even when you do eat meat - and not eating meat makes it a serious challenge.

Take a multivitamin every day. put them next to your coffee or your toothbrush - somewhere you will take it every day.

Use drinks as a good way to supplement your diet with healthier options. cutting down on soda and drinking juices without added sugars, milk (even chocolate) and water helps.

Good breakfasts - yogurt, cottage cheese and fruit (they have great 'cottage cheese doubles' that come with fruitspread in the grocery store, cheese sticks, whole grain toast, milk boxes, granola bar (check for ones with more protein), pieces of fruit, nuts, raisins, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal

i mix up a box of raisins and a bag of nuts and make trail mix baggies to take all week for healthy munching. hard boil some eggs for quick protien - they'll keep all week. And I love them.

lunches - i like to mix up a bean salad with my favorite veggies, pasta for filler, a can of black beans, salad dressing and eat that for a few days lunch. Super filling. you can also make wraps and take them with you. some soups (Amy's and Progresso have good ones) are pretty healthy and make good easy lunches with some crackers. Amy's frozen meals are pretty good too for lunch if you have a freezer available? they're microwaveable. i usually just bring baby carrot sticks, a pb%26amp;j or cheese sandwich, an orange or apple and much on that. hummus is chock full of protein too and good for dipping.

    my favorite dinners:

try the morningstar veggie ground 'beef' in pasta sauce or as taco filler (i'm addicted). baked potato with plain yogurt, onion, cheese, other veggies. instant rice or couscous mixed with a can of beans, veggies, and vegetable bullion. since you always have to run out the door before breakfast try it for dinner - I do this all the time as an excuse to eat morningstar veggie bacon and saugages and over easy eggs on toast (sigh). omlettes are great for dinner too. tofu and veggies and asian marinade makes for an endless array of stir frys (i skip the rice and noodles to make it easier).

the more research you do about specific foods that fill your dietary needs the better. i'm still trying to educate myself on good sources of protein, nutrients, vitamins, etc. I do know that high fiber whole grain bread is so worth the extra money - it fills you up and tastes so much better. Protein is key. Get as much as you can - but limit your soy intake to one-two servings a day as too much can be bad for you. And eat as many DIFFERENT veggies as you can. Raw is best, but variety is better.

cooking in advance for a few days supply of breakfasts and lunches (or making extra dinner to bring the next day) really is the only way i've found to eat at all healthily during the day. the options available out in the world are so crappy and lacking for vegetarians - so i gotta try to make due.

don't beat yourself up for being a doritos and coke vegetarian - i just lunched out on some doritos and chinese take out last night, but the more times we do try and are able to improve what we eat the better. :)

i recommend the foodnetwork website for great recipes from people you might have heard of - and you can find great vegetarian cookbooks out there. spend some time in a bookstore sifting through the selection for foods you'd like to try.

    good luck with everything!
If you want to greatly improve your health, you (and everyone else) need to get nutrients into your body from *plants*. So start by adding more (9-13 servings) fruits and vegetables in your diet. Ideally you want to eat 70% raw, 30% cooked. Eat less grains (2-3 servings max) and if you're going to eat bread or cereal go for "sprouted wheat". You'll need to shop in a health food store. You'll also need to plan out your meals for the week. I understand you probably live in a dormatory, but you cannot expect to do everything fast and last minute if you want to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Read Labels. Get Trans Fats, refined sugar, MSG, food dyes and flavors, GMOs, and other negative ingredients out of your diet. You need to read the "ingredients" part of the label, not the "nutrition facts".

Buy organic as often as you can. Always buy organic soy products. Most people are allergic to soy that is not organic as it is most always genetically modified.

Quit dairy products. Dairy is not a good source of calcium, it is only 32% absorbable and the high amount of animal protein actually drains calcium from your bones. Soy milk, Rice milk or Almond milk are good substitutes.

Quit the soda habit and drink more WATER. If you are not drinking at least 64 oz a day you are dehydrated. Only water can properly cleanse your organs and keep you hydrated.

Below is a sample menu. The idea is to get as wide of a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet every day. Drink water in between meals. Do not drink water or any other beverage with meals. It waters down your stomach acid and causes the food to not be properly digested. Wait one hour after a meal to start drinking water again.

Breakfast: apple, banana or other fruit and a handful of nuts or

You can keep bags of nuts and dried fruit in your book bag or locker

    Yogurt with fruit

Lunch: whole grain bread with cheese or nut butter and jam

Dinner: vegetable soup. Add whatever veggies you like to V8 juice and cook to desired tenderness. Try Dr Kracker breads? they are delicious with soups.
This is simpler then you think, eat like when you were a kid and your mom made you. Just put away the coke and doritoes.

Bring fresh fruit and fruit juice, Veggie sticks and dip, corn chips and salsa, tea, milk (or chocolate milk or soy milk) peanut butter (its got lots of protein) and jelly on whole wheat bread.

Use wholewheat (not just wheat as most of that has regular white wheat also as filler, "whole wheat") breads and bagels whenever you eat them. Try a bagel with cream chese or a bran muffin, applesauce, cottage cheese cups with fruit, bring dried fruits like banana chips or apple rings, buy a bag of roasted nuts.

Add avacado to your salad of a sandwich with grilled mushrooms, avacado, lettuce, cheese and tomato. Sprinkle on sesame seeds to your salad,

Use dark lettuces instead of iceburg lettuce, also try adding spinach and dandelion greens

Cook a healthy dinner and bring the left overs for lunch. there are lots of vegetarian cookbooks made specifically for quick/easy recipies. Go to your local book store and I'm sure you will find a few.

Does anyone know of any vegetarian stores in Louisville?

In Michigan they have Apple Valley, but I live in Jeffersonville, Indiana now-exit one over the border from Louisville. Does anyone know where I can get vegetarian food (Loma Linda, Morningstar farms, boca) that is not an everyday store like Walmart or Kroger? They tend to be outrageous in price.Does anyone know of any vegetarian stores in Louisville?
I agree with the happycow answer, but here's another possibility. Look in your Yellow Pages for a Seventh Day Adventist "bookstore". They carry tons of vegetarian food for their church members. (Worthington and Loma Linda were originally started to provide food for Adventists. Now that Kellogg bought them, they're available everywhere, but some of the products are being discontinued -- sliced Wham, canned Turkee slices, frozen corn dogs, etc.)

Good luck!Does anyone know of any vegetarian stores in Louisville?

Where can i order fake meat products online?

My local supermarkets have stopped carrying my favorite veggie products by morningstar farms and boca, and the closest place i can get the things i want is 45 minutes away (i live in texas). I was wondering if there was a place i could order these things online and have them shipped to my house. I have looked numerous places and cannot find anything, hope you can be of help. Thanks : )Where can i order fake meat products online?
I found a website called netgrocer.com that carries morningstar and boca. http://shop.netgrocer.com/ I was surprised you can't get them from Amazon....weird.

Hope that helps!Where can i order fake meat products online?
I don't know about ordering Morningstar and Boca products, but you can order analogues from Vegan Essentials (www.veganessentials.com). Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe (www.cosmosveganshoppe.com) also has some refrigerated and frozen analogues. There's also a company called Veggie Brothers (www.veggiebrothers.com) that has a nice variety of analogues.

Why don't you complain to the manager at that supermarket and ask him to carry the products for you? If you really love the products, and you have room in your freezer, you might want to ask him to make a special order for you.

What's your favorite vegetarian alternative food product?

I know it's oddly phrased, but what's your favorite vegetarian meat replacing product?

I personally really like the tofurkey italian sausage links, as well as the morningstar farms ground beef substitute (for tacos!)

Is there anything I should try? What's your favorite vegetarian alternative food product?
Veggie bacon. Try it. I like it in a sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles. Cook the "bacon" it in a frying pan, not the microwave.
my favorite is the chili mixes; i add corn, tomatoes, black beans and sauteed onions and green peppers and I think I could serve it to my Dad even and he wouldn't know the difference! What's your favorite vegetarian alternative food product?

  • Is there a better alternative sausage and bacon than?

Morningstar Farms their bacon and sausage can't figure out how to cook it right burns and sticks to pan. Taste horrible, can't even chew it right, like chewing in rub and afraid going to choke. I have made a lifestyle change from real bacon and sausage, but this is ridiculous morningstar is horrible. I would rather go back to real bacon and sausage or give it up completely. I am looking for some alternatives that have a better taste and I can actually chew and swallow. Is there a better alternative sausage and bacon than?
you didn't mention why you transitioned from regular bacon %26amp; sausage

there is turkey bacon if you aren't vegetarian

if you are vegetarian, and just like the taste of bacon, check out baconase, its bacon flavored mayonnaise and is actually vegetarian, containing no meat.

How much do vegetarian foods cost at Walmart? Like the veggie burgers, sausage, etc?

I'm look to transition my diet to a vegetarian diet, and I know that Walmart sells some stuff (Morningstar Farms stuff). But how expensive is it?

Thanks! How much do vegetarian foods cost at Walmart? Like the veggie burgers, sausage, etc?
As the previous post suggests it is healthier to stick to whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds.

WM seems to be stocking more and more organic produce lately so be sure to pick up the organic fruits and veges in the produce section, not only processed foods which are ok in moderation but are high in sodium and additives. Be sure to eat a big bowl of leafy greens daily.
I live in Charlotte, NC and they are about $3.50 per box but Wal-Mart's do vary by location. We transferred to vegetarianism from being big meat eaters. They were nice when we were craving meat but since, we have transitioned into eating more natural foods. We still try out some of the bizarre ones every now and then. My daughter will ask for nuggets and we get those on occasion. If you like burgers, I would like to suggest making bean (black, pinto, chickpea) burgers. May not sound appealing at first but even my husband goes bananas for them. Tons of healthy recipes are online and you can make 4 black bean burgers for the cost of 1/8 of a Boca Burger package. Good luck on your diet! How much do vegetarian foods cost at Walmart? Like the veggie burgers, sausage, etc?
as walmart is a huge company, they actually adjust their costs of most of their food products by location.

a walmart in a big city like New York, will likely charge more than a small midwest town.

your best bet would be to go to your local walmart or call to find out their current prices.
Walmart is the cheapest for that but you should not rely on the faux meats so much. They are fine once in awhile but all very processed. Stick to things like whole grains, beans/lentils, nuts, veggies etc.How much do vegetarian foods cost at Walmart? Like the veggie burgers, sausage, etc?
Please dont buy processed vegetarian meat replacements, and PLEASE dont shop at Walmart...please support local growers and eat whole fresh foods...
a bit more than the regular...but cheaper than any other place

I don't like to eat beans because of the gas is veggie meat as good?

Morningstar farms Grillers are artificial hamburger. I eat a hamburger for lunch. Soymilk and cereal for breakfast and use a veggie griller for making spaghetti or tacos or other hamburget dishes. Is veggie eat as healthy as beans?

Don't like the gass.I don't like to eat beans because of the gas is veggie meat as good?
At first you may get gas,but after awhile you won't anymore. Most people don't get enough fiber,so when they do actually start consuming their body isn't used to it,so they end up being gassy.I used to get alittle gassy, but I include beans everyday in my diet and i don't get gassy anymore.
Try taking bean-o before you eat beans. Then you wont have gasI don't like to eat beans because of the gas is veggie meat as good?
I don't know but soybeans don't cause gas. You can buy them in the frozen section in the pod (my favorite) or podded.
Veggies like broccoli can give you gas too.I don't like to eat beans because of the gas is veggie meat as good?
ha ha ha you suck get a real diet est meat god gave you pointy teeth for a reson and your a t the top of the food chain so eat meat
or you can use Beano....it's this liquid thing you can buy at basically any pharmacy, it has the enzymes to break down the fiber in beans better so you don't get gas...personally i don't like veggie meat, but if you like it yay!
    try using mushrooms
veggie meat tastes ok, but i would rather eat beans.

Is there a good, edible brand of meatless bacon around?

I tried Morningstar Farms a while back and I couldn't handle it. It smelled horrible and tasted even worse; however, I decided that I want to start eating a little healthier. Turkey bacon is an option for me as well, but I'd like to explore meatless options. Thanks. Is there a good, edible brand of meatless bacon around?
if ur ever in the UK, Quorn bacon is lovely. my meat-eater brother walked in the kitchen the other day and said 'mmmm, bacon' due to the smell from it cooking, i said 'yes, it's fake!!', which felt great as he always takes the p*ss outta veggie food lol
I don't like any of the fake bacons you can find at the grocery. I rather make it myself with tempeh, it tastes better. A recipe I like: http://books.google.com/books?id=9lW15qt鈥?/a>

    Cheese enchilada's

You take corn tortillas and just dip them momentarily on both sides in hot oil and then put on drain on a paper towel. You cut up yellow onion finely. You put 4 cheese mexican shredded cheese down the center of the tortilla and some onion. You can add anything else you may want in there but this is all I like. Then you roll the tortilla up tightly. You lie them all in a 9x13 pan if making a lot or smaller pan for a smaller batch. Then you get a can of the red enchilada sauce mild, stir contents after opening can and poor over the tortillas. One large can should do it for a large batch. Then you cover the top with the same shreded cheese and bake through at 350 until cheese melts.

Serve with spanish rice and vegetarian beens.

    Skillet Baked Ziti

from the Episode: Easy Skillet Suppers

To complete this recipe in 30 minutes, preheat your oven before assembling your ingredients. If your skillet is not ovensafe, transfer the pasta mixture into a shallow 2-quart casserole dish before sprinkling with the cheese and baking. Packaged pre-shredded mozzarella is a real time-saver here. Penne can also be used here.

    2. Simmer Ziti: Combine oil, garlic, pepper flakes, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in 12-inch, ovensafe nonstick skillet and saut茅 over medium-high heat until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add crushed tomatoes, water, ziti, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cover and cook, stirring often and adjusting heat as needed to maintain vigorous simmer, until ziti is almost tender, 15 to 18 minutes.

    3. Add Cheese and Bake: Stir in cream, Parmesan, and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over ziti. Transfer skillet to oven and bake until cheese has melted and browned, about 10 minutes. Serve.

How many calories would a fried taco made with veggie crumbles instead of meat have?

Made with Morningstar farms skillet starter crumbles, a fried corn tortilla, cheese and lettuce. Any clue how many calories would be in each taco? How many calories would a fried taco made with veggie crumbles instead of meat have?
You will need to determine how many calories are in the amount of starter crumbles you used in each taco, how many calories are in your one corn tortilla, how much in the oil you fried the tortilla in, how much in the amount of cheese you used and how much in the lettuce you used.

Most of the Calorie books have things by a measurement - like 1/2 cup or 2 ounces. The back of your Morningstar Farms box should tell you how much "per serving" and compare what you actually used with their "per serving" measurement - add or subtract from there. Your corn tortilla package should also list how many calories are in one tortilla (or serving). You will also find the info on the wrapper for your cheese. For the lettuce you will need a measurement for that as well - like 1/2 cup.

    Here's the information I know:

1 oz cheddar cheese has around 100 calories

    1 corn tortilla 54 calories

    Lettuce - 1 head 6" diameter has 70 calories

I don't have any information on the Morningstar Farms Skillet Starter Crumbles so you'll have to use the box for the information.

    Hope that helps.

Where can I purchase MorningStar Farm products in Bulk?

I love MorningStar Farms veggie Burgers and Veggie Sausage however in my area the price of the products are 5.00 a box and I can run through two boxes of them in a week. Is there a site or store where I can purchase these products in large quantities at a lower price. Where can I purchase MorningStar Farm products in Bulk?
You could ask the store manager about buying a case of them, if you have a place to freeze them all. They usually give you a break if you buy a case. I make my own veggie patties now using TVP (textured vegetable protein), it saves a lot over buying them premade.
I just looked up MorningStar because I keep seeing them mentioned.. we don't have them in Australia. I've gotta say they don't look that great - a bit of soy protein with fillers and colours, the sausages have red and blue dye in them for God's sake!! The products look like meatless junk food.

Why not find a few good veggie/lentil burger recipes and make up a big batch to freeze? For $5 you'll be able to make a LOT more than 2 burgers - I think if you're vege you should be able to cook and experiment, its pretty easy to cook in bulk and there's such a huge variety of exciting ingredients and dishes to try out.Where can I purchase MorningStar Farm products in Bulk?
Ask the store manager if you can buy in bulk.

But really, don't eat too much of them. It's not good for you to eat too much of anything, no matter what it is.
morningstar is owned by dean foods so you may want to look in your area for dean foods distributors or maybe costco has them.Where can I purchase MorningStar Farm products in Bulk?

I have seen Bocca burgers at my Costco and Sam's Club. If you don't mind switching brands, I'd check out those two stores.

Will I lose any weight if i start eating meat substitutes like tofu burgers (like morningstar farms stuff)?

I have been dieting for the past two months and its worked really well so far.

I have just been substituting chips with like rice cakes or veggie chips, and I have been substituting sweets with fruits and instead of eating fatty stuff like chicken patties and corndogs and stuff ive just been eating whole wheat deli wraps and sandwhiches.

I wanna start eating less fatty stuff though, but since I can NEVER give up meat (or at least the taste) I was wondering if it would be healthy for me to eat the tofu chicken patties, or the tofu burgers and stuff like that instead.

Would I still lose weight, or am I still packing on the same pounds, just with tofu instead of meat? Will I lose any weight if i start eating meat substitutes like tofu burgers (like morningstar farms stuff)?
Rice cakes and tofu "meat" products are going to get old really fast if you're used to eating corndogs and chicken patties. If I were you I'd stop with the chicken patties and just go with plain ole chicken breast, no breading but you can season the hell out of it. Instead of regular hamburgers try leaner beef or switch it out for turkey or ground chicken. No need to change EVERYTHING you're eating just modify it a bit. Will I lose any weight if i start eating meat substitutes like tofu burgers (like morningstar farms stuff)?
Actually, you can eat whatever you want. As long as you have a healthy lifestyle(exercise, sleep, hygiene, etc.). As you may know, diets don't work most of the time however, it ultimately depends on the person. If you want to lose weight, find a method that works best for you. Will I lose any weight if i start eating meat substitutes like tofu burgers (like morningstar farms stuff)?
Ive been trying to find ways to cut on the fat as well and i have tried the whole tofu thing and i for one dont like it. if u like tofu it is a better alternative but if ur like me (not to mention alot of other people) who dont like tofu try just cutting down on the portions of the meat you eat. more less you can have your chicken and lean meats, stay away from red meat (beef burgers hot dogs etc). so what im saying is if you like tofu its better if you want to keep your weight down, it has high quality proteins which could help you curve your appetite but dont cut meat out completly
When it comes to losing weight, it all boils down to the total number of calories consumed, not how fatty something is (different health issues there). You'd have to do a side by side calorie analysis of identically sized patties of meat and tofu (read the packages?). If the tofu has less calories, then yes, you will lose weight by eating tofu patties.

Nope they should be animal meat free
Morningstar does not make meat products. The ingredients are on the box.

I gotta say, if the package says "chik'n" in the name, then there is probably NO chicken in there at all!How much chicken is in a "morningstar farm's meal starters chik'n strips" package?
Its vegetarian....How much chicken is in a "morningstar farm's meal starters chik'n strips" package?
    Ummmm....none, it's vegetarian....

How do I cook Morningstar Farms burgers on the grill?

My birthday is on Friday and I have told all of my guests that, out of respect for my vegetarianism, we would be having a meat-free night. I will be making Boca Italian Sausage kabobs and faux beef dip for tortilla chips. I would also like to make some Morningstar burgers on the grill (or possibly the Griller鈥檚 Prime version of Boca burgers, which I have found appeal to non-vegers more than the original) preferably the Cheddar Burgers or the Spicy Southwestern Black Bean Burgers. Unfortunately, I do not know how to cook these on the grill, which I intend on doing to prove you can still have the fun of a cookout with out the meat! I really don't want to have to deal with burnt or overcooked burgers on my birthday! Any suggestions would be a great help. Keep in mind, these MUST be cooked on a grill! How do I cook Morningstar Farms burgers on the grill?
You cook them the same as meat burgers but you need to make sure you oil the rack or else they stick to it. Instructions for grilling should be on the box.

    BTW--Happy Birthday!

    **
You cook them the same way that you would cook real food. How do I cook Morningstar Farms burgers on the grill?
I cant give you exact times because it depends on how hot your grill is. WHat you dont want to do is overcook them. Keep them frozen until ready to put them on, and then just watch them until the top starts to look slightly shiny (indicating that they are thawing) then flip and just cook til hot. They are precooked so you are just heating them through. Delish!
I"m not sure exactly how long...I cut it abou 3-4 minutes on each side, then check and see if the middle is hot.How do I cook Morningstar Farms burgers on the grill?
i like morningstar better on the grill. i put the boca ones down on foil and they stick to the foil :/ maybe if it was straight on the grill it would be okay.....

they dont' need as long as meat at all... haven't grilled in a while here, but i think no more than like 10 minutes and you should be done.

by the way that all sounds like a great idea!!!!! when i have people over i typically make veggie stuff and if they want meat they can bring and cook their own. but i'd love to have an all veggie thing so they can see it tastes good! half the time my veggie burgers and hot dogs disapppear from the meat eaters eating tehm too and not realizing!
I think the package should come with grilling instructions....so if my experience differs greatly from what you read on the box, please forgive me. :-)

    1. Oil the area of the grill that you plan to use. It's easy to take the rack out and give it a quick spray with Pam or the like. You could even moisten a paper towel with EVOO and rub it on the grates.

    2. Pre-heat your grill for about 10 minutes. You can keep it on medium heat as you are not having to technically "cook" the burger as you would ground beef burgers.

    3. Take the burgers out of the package and place them (while still frozen) on the grill. (if you allow them to thaw at all, they'll become mushy on the grill and when you go to turn them, they break apart).

    4. Allow the burgers to sit on the grill for about 3 minutes. Touch the patty in the center, then near the edges to check for frozenness. If there are only a few cool spots on the burger, go ahead and flip it. Then cook on the other side for another 3 minutes and you're all set.

    Have a HAPPY birthday!

    :-)
They will cook exactly the same way as hamburgers. Just oil the grill and check the box for time estimates.
Make some real hamburgers and it will solve the whole problem. You should even want to taste anything that tastes like meat anyways, because that just shows that you want it.

Has anyone tried these Morningstar products?

Has anyone tried the Morningstar Farms sesame or sweet and sour chik'n? I'm eager to try them, but they are pricey and I want to know if they are worth the money. Also, just a side note, but I tried the new 1/4 patty grillers tonight and they were the best meatless burgers I have ever had! I very much recommend them.Has anyone tried these Morningstar products?
I like the sweet and sour chik'n but am not a fan of the brown rice, it's a little mushy. I highly recommend the sesame ginger chik'n with noodles. Delicious! Stay away from the lasagna though.
The Riblets, though somewhat high in sodium, taste great too! I just don't serve it with all of the sauce in the package, as you can significantly reduce the sodium that way. I can't get Morningstar where I am in Canada - I have to drive over an hour to get to Watertown NY to do cross-border shopping! :(

I haven't had the chance to try any of their other products yet...Has anyone tried these Morningstar products?
They actually taste pretty good overall, but I wouldn't rely on their foods for daily consumption. At least not a lot at a time.

I think they are good foods for transition, when a meat-eater is having troubles trying to become vegetarian. Also, when you're really tired from work/school or having a horrible craving for meat.

Other than that, you might want to Google some of the meatless recipes out there. I bet someone has some that taste just as good and are cheaper and maybe healthier.
Yes. Before going vegan I had the MorningStar Farms sweet %26amp; sour chik'n. I loved it. But because it is a little pricey I bought it only as a meal for once in a while. It would be too expensive to stock up on in large amounts. My omnivore boyfriend eats the MorningStar Farms grillers burger often and loves them! I thought they were delicious too, but don't buy them for myself anymore because they contain eggs.Has anyone tried these Morningstar products?
Yes I've tried them and the fake chicken tastes like water. I wouldn't even bother they're so gross and such small portions. But I love their garden burgers! And the chicken you bake is good too, what I like most though is I feel full. =)
Personally, I think that Morningstar products are higher quality than Boca. I love them! I usually stick to the "chicken nuggets" and not the grilled "chicken" products. You can usually find coupons online.
I've tried just about all. omnomnom.(:

    Morningstar %26gt; Boca.
The burgers aren't bad. I have some grilled chik'n still in my freezer that I am a little afraid to use.

Which vegetarian brand is better? Boca or Morningstar Farms?

I love them both, but I prefer Boca they have more vegan options. Morning Star has been constantly adding eggs and milk into their vegan products and announcing they're no longer vegan, which is obviously upsetting many vegans.Which vegetarian brand is better? Boca or Morningstar Farms?
Boca Chik'n patties (Spicy and Original)

    Boca Original Chik'n Nuggets

    Boca Original Vegan Burgers

    MorningStar Farms Hickory BBQ Riblets

MorningStar Farms Meal Starters Chik'n Strips

    MorningStar Farms Grillers Chik'n

MorningStar Farms also now makes a frozen dinner I like, Sweet %26amp; Sour Chik'n

When I was vegetarian I liked MorningStar Farms Buffalo Wings.

Gardenburger is also worth mentioning :)

I love their Veggie Medley burgersWhich vegetarian brand is better? Boca or Morningstar Farms?
Morningstar Farms prime griller is one fantastic burger. It has no after taste. It tastes like the real thing. I think the pseudo chicken products are equally good for both brands.Which vegetarian brand is better? Boca or Morningstar Farms?
    I agree Morningstar is better
I think Morningstar is better, but that's just my opinion.
